October is breast cancer awareness month, and all across the United States people will be raising money and awareness to combat this devastating disease. Criswell & Criswell Plastic Surgery is excited to do our part, and all month long we will be teaming up with the Charlotte, NC community to continue to support causes in search for a cure.
We are happy to be a sponsor for the upcoming Survivor Fashion Show on October 8th. This “Invest in Your Chest” event showcases designer clothing made by and for breast cancer survivors. These designers include Hulabelle Swimwear, AnaOno Intimates, LympheDIVAs, and Red Fern Lingerie. All ticket proceeds from the show go to the local charity NothingPink, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to eliminating inherited breast cancer deaths that result from the expense or misinformation surrounding preventative genetic testing. Early detection is often the key to survival, and genetic testing allows women to find out if they are at risk as early as possible. Through research and fundraising, NothingPink aims to make life-saving genetic testing accessible for all women and we are proud to help them reach their goal.
Members of the Criswell & Criswell staff also participated in the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on October 1st, one of the world’s largest and most successful breast cancer fundraising events. This year marked the 20th running of the race in Charlotte and the turnout was unbelievable! We would like to thank everyone who ran alongside us and donated to this amazing cause.
Also, just last month our own Dr. Kara Criswell was the Sponsor Speaker at the Carolina Breast Friend’s Pink Boots Ball, a dinner and auction benefiting the area’s breast cancer community. She was honored to have this opportunity to continue to support the survivors in our community and aid in the search for a cure.
