Halo and BBL Treatments

Skin damage can be embarrassing and can significantly age your face. You may experience wrinkles, scars, or discoloration resulting from sun damage or other environmental factors. Skin resurfacing treatments can reduce visible signs of aging and increase your self-confidence. Criswell & Criswell Plastic Surgery in Charlotte offers many different non-invasive forms of skin revitalization to fit your needs.

About Halo Laser Skin Treatment

The Halo laser treatment is the best combination of ablative and non-ablative lasers. The specially-designed laser device combines precise penetration of the dermis to inspire growth of new collagen and elastin with an ablative laser that targets discoloration or textural anomalies in the epidermis. The laser is precise and offers effective treatment with minimal downtime. The Halo Laser is often used to treat skin on the face, neck, and chest.

What is BroadBand Light Treatment?

Also known as a photofacial, BroadBand Light (BBL) treatment uses targeted, pulsed light to even your skin tone and provide a refreshed look. The light energy heats up the top layers of skin and promotes the body’s natural regenerative process. It can reduce the appearance of small blood vessels that cause redness, pigmented lesions, and variations in skin texture or firmness. Although the BBL treatment can be used almost anywhere on the body, common areas for treatment can include the face, chest, back, arms, shoulders, and more.

Combining the Benefits of Halo and BBL

Many plastic surgeons have begun to combine Halo and BBL treatments to maximize effectiveness and benefits for the patient. The BBL therapy is largely used for surface-level imperfections and doesn’t penetrate the dermis like the Halo laser. The combination of the two types of light therapy can produce better results and less downtime than the BBL therapy alone. Together they can treat symptoms such as:

  • Rosacea (redness)
  • Sun spots, age spots, and other brown or red spots
  • Freckles or hyperpigmentation
  • Wrinkles
  • Acne scars or other scars from injuries and accidents

The deep, penetrative Halo laser can help fill in wrinkles and scars by initiating production of collagen within the skin, while the BBL therapy will treat surface discolorations or imperfections. The best of both treatments are combined to produce smooth, younger looking skin.

What to Expect After Halo or BBL Treatment

Recovery will vary among patients, but you may experience some slight redness. Any discomfort will dissipate with time and can be treated with pain medication prescribed by your plastic surgeon from Criswell & Criswell Plastic Surgery. Combining the two treatments can shorten your recovery time, allowing you to resume your daily routine quickly while enjoying the near-instant results: toned and vibrant looking skin.
