Xeomin

Xeomin is designed to smooth the lines that appear from aging and stress. It functions very similarly to Botox. Xeomin is a neurotoxin designed to treat such signs of aging. Xeomin can effectively reduce:
- The lines that appear across your forehead (transverse forehead rhytids)
- Lines between your brows (glabellar “frown” lines)
- Smile lines at the corners of your eyes
As you make facial expressions throughout your normal day, your facial muscles contract, causing the overlying skin to wrinkle. This is quite apparent when most people frown, emphasizing the glabellar frown lines between your eyes. Over time this continual wrinkling of the muscles causes facial lines to become more pronounced.
Xeomin is a simple and nonsurgical injectable that can help improve, and in some cases help erase mild to moderate wrinkles. The treatment, which is performed in our office, consists of a few tiny injections and generally takes 10-15 minutes. After your procedure, patients are often able to see dramatic results within a few days with full results in 2 weeks. Results last 3-4 months, although individual results vary. Our plastic surgeons will tailor your treatment to your goals. After your treatment, you can still smile, frown, and look surprised. It will not ‘change your look’ but rather enhance it. Usual results are a more youthful and rested appearance with the reduction of wrinkles and creases in the forehead and face.
Xeomin has no additives, just botulinum toxin type A. This may mean that there is less risk of the body developing antibodies against Xeomin than other available neurotoxins (although this has not been shown). The effects of Xeomin usually occur shortly after the procedure and results can last three to six months, making it comparable to Botox in terms of both onset and duration of action.
Hyperhidrosis
Hyperhidrosis is an embarrassing condition that causes the sweat glands to produce excess amounts of sweat, even when not stimulated by external conditions such as heat or exercise. This condition can be so acute that those affected will not only sweat through layers of clothing, but often suffer from sweat dripping from the exposed areas of the face and hands.
Hyperhidrosis is caused by too many signals being sent from the nervous system to the sweat glands, causing superfluous production. This condition is not only embarrassing for those who experience it; it can cause significant social anxiety as well. In addition, hyperhidrosis can cause patients to be more susceptible to infections of the skin.
Treating Hyperhidrosis With Xeomin
Those seeking treatment for hyperhidrosis in Charlotte, North Carolina can rest assured that at Criswell & Criswell Plastic Surgery, we can help. Xeomin is the latest introduction to the family of injectables known as neuromodulators. Neuromodulators – like BOTOX – work to disrupt nerve signals sent to areas of the body. When injected in the skin of the face, Xeomin works to reduce or remove the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
How effective is Xeomin?
When injected into the sweat glands, Xeomin blocks the nerve signals sent by the central nervous system which cause the glands to produce copious quantities of sweat. Like BOTOX, Xeomin can block hyperhidrosis for up to 6 to 12 months. Xeomin differs from BOTOX in that it is pure botulinum toxin without added fillers. This means the product may have the potential to cause fewer side effects and that patients may be less likely to develop resistance to Xeomin.
Hyperhidrosis can be a debilitating medical condition for those who suffer from it. Xeomin is a fantastic choice for men and women in Charlotte, North Carolina seeking relief from excessive sweating.
