When exercise and diet are unable to resolve stubborn fat or stretched skin, a mommy makeover at Criswell & Criswell Plastic Surgery in Charlotte can help! A mommy makeover is a combination of procedures performed in a single surgery session. What should you know before this procedure?
Planning matters.
As you will be undergoing major surgery (in most cases), you need to schedule enough time off if you work and arrange an adult to assist you for the first few days. For a mommy makeover, you should be in good health, within 25 pounds of your ideal weight, and not planning on more children or currently breastfeeding. Your plans should include:
- Have childcare available if you have young children because you will be unable to lift them and will need time to rest.
- Arrange your sleeping area with everything you need within easy reach.
- Ensure you have plenty of loose clothing that is easy to remove and put on.
- Ensure you have filled the prescriptions needed post-surgery.
- If you smoke, you must stop for four weeks before your surgery.
- Eat healthy foods and avoid alcohol to prepare your body for rapid recovery.
Are you ready to look and feel your best post-baby?
A mommy makeover is typically a combination of procedures during one surgical session to maximize the time to achieve your aesthetic goals. During a mommy makeover, you may have a breast enhancement (reduction, augmentation, lift), a tummy tuck, circumferential abdominoplasty, or liposuction to restore a slimmer figure. A mommy makeover can address love handles, stretch marks, reduced or saggy breasts, sagging skin, and more to give you a more contoured, tighter, slimmer look.
What will my surgery entail?
During your initial consultation with us, we’ll collaborate with you to create a mommy makeover that will address all your concerns. Depending on your specific plan, you will have a combination of procedures during your single surgical session at Criswell & Criswell Plastic Surgery’s state-of-the-art, accredited surgical center in Charlotte. A mommy makeover is an outpatient session that can vary in length, although it is generally between three and six hours. After your surgery, you will be released to the care of another adult to begin your recovery.
How long should I plan for recovery?
With a mommy makeover, there’s usually at least one component that is major surgery, usually a tummy tuck or breast surgery. We recommend that you plan for at least two weeks of recovery time and avoid strenuous activity – including lifting anything heavy – for at least six weeks. The full recovery will be achieved in about six months, although you will enjoy your slimmer, enhanced figure far earlier. The surgical scars will continue to fade with time.
