One in eight women will be diagnosed with a form of breast cancer in their lifetime. BRA Day is an awareness campaign designed to promote education, awareness and access for women who may wish to consider post-mastectomy breast reconstruction.
The future of plastic surgery is filled with exciting promise and creativity, but it needs support to realize that potential. Unfortunately the reality is very different because not all women are offered information about breast reconstruction at the time of diagnosis, and often times are not referred to reconstructive surgeons.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons and The Plastic Surgery Foundation helped to shape this collaborative effort. Thanks to the Breast Cancer Patient Education Act, it is a requirement for patients to be informed of all their reconstruction options, and we can only hope that many more women will be fully educated before making plans.
Is Breast Reconstruction Right for You?
At Criswell & Criswell, we offer consultations in order to determine if you are a good candidate for surgery. If breast reconstruction fits your needs, we will work with you to develop your own procedure to help take the final step in overcoming breast cancer.
Reconstruction allows women to move forward from their journey through cancer with a renewed sense of well-being. If you would like to get involved and donate to the Breast Reconstruction Awareness Fund, please visit BRA Day – USA. Thank you for all your efforts and support in celebrating BRA Day and helping to close the loop on breast cancer.
