An abdominoplasty, otherwise known as a tummy tuck, is a popular surgical procedure that eliminates loose skin and excess fat around the midsection. In addition, the procedure often includes fixing detached abdominal muscles by surgically tightening them with dissolvable sutures. This is a common issue among women who have experienced childbirth.
Typically with an abdominoplasty, the undesired skin and fat will be removed with an incision along the lower abdomen, generally around the waistband region to conceal any post-surgical marks. The remaining skin, muscle, and tissue will be realigned and sutured, resulting in a flatter, firmer midsection. Your belly button may be moved in order for your reshaped abdomen to accommodate its new placement.
