Breast augmentation, sometimes known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure to enhance the size and shape of a woman's breast. This is a very personal decision, and there are as many different reasons to have the procedure as there are women. Some of the more common reasons are to enhance the body contour of a woman who feels her breast size is too small, to restore breast volume after pregnancy or weight loss or to balance a difference in breast size.

The procedure involves placing an implant behind each breast, increasing a woman's bust line by one or more bra cup sizes. The desired size, and to some degree shape, can be discussed with your surgeon to achieve your individual goal.
